Toshiba Satellite M505-S4020
The Toshiba Satellite M505-S4020 is one of the nicest touch laptop in Toshiba’s M500 line. The M500 line starts at around $700. The M505 isn’t much more than that with an MSRP of around $999. You get an awful lot for your thousand dollars with the M505. Not only is it quite a stylish touch screen laptop, it also performs really well.
The M505’s most impressive feature is that it has a touch screen. The screen also supports multi-touch functionality so you can make use of the “pinch in to shrink” and “pinch out to enlarge” gestures that many people are becoming familiar with thanks to the Apple iPhone and iPad Touch devices.
The M505’s touchpad that we’re all familiar with on laptop computers also supports multi-touch gestures. This is a fairly new feature on laptop computers but it’s quite handy. An example of how this might save you time is called two finger scrolling. If you touch the touchpad with one finger, the mouse will move around the screen like we’re all accustomed to it doing. If you touch the touchpad with two fingers at the same time and move them up or down at the same time, the screen will scroll up or down. No more moving the mouse pointer over to the tiny scroll bar in order to scroll web pages. Pretty cool, huh?
Battery run time tests report that for video playback, the battery only lasted just over two hours. That is pretty bad for a laptop computer. Toshiba does have an optional 12 cell battery that can be purchased separately for another $150. That should give you around twice the run time compared to the standard 6 cell battery that the M505 ships with.
Let’s take a peek under the hood.

As you can see, the M505 is really stacked with some hot computing power and an especially large hard drive. Not to mention, it has a touch screen that supports multi-touch gestures. For around a thousand dollars, this touch screen laptop would be a good choice for anyone who is ready to take the plunge into the world of touch screen laptops.
