Chances are that you’re not new to computers. By now, most people have owned several computers in their lives. Few, however, have ever purchased a touch screen laptop. Luckily, there isn’t much more to know about purchasing a good touch screen laptop computer.

One thing you may want to consider is the type of screen that the touch screen laptop computer has. It’s easy to find out what your preference will be. There are basically two finishes found on a touch screen computer. They matte and shiny. Different people have have their favorite but I prefer the matte finish. I think it shows less glare and fingerprints don’t show up as easily.

Normally people go to great lengths not to touch their computer screens to avoid getting fingerprints on it. Now the touch screen computer is becoming more popular, touching the touch screen is an inherent part of the user experience. I personally tend to notice more fingerprints and glare on a glossy touch screen.

Some touch screen laptops only recognize touch from an electronic digital stylus. This may not be an issue for you but it is to me. I prefer being able to just reach up and touch the touch screen computer with my finger if I choose to. An example of this would be when sending an email. After you type an email, it’s really nice to be able to just reach up and touch the send button on the touch screen with your finger. If the touch screen laptop computer that you purchase requires a digital stylus, you’ll find yourself searching for the stylus every time you want to make a selection on the touch screen. This can be a bit of a nuisance.

The touch screen laptop computer should be responsive to your touch input. If you find yourself having to touch the touch screen computer over and over to get it to recognize your input, the touch screen isn’t very responsive and it would be wise to move on to a touch screen laptop compuer that is more responsive to touch.

Some touch screen laptops are capable of recognizing your handwriting and converting it to typed text. This is a very handy aspect of touch screen laptops. I would suggest that you buy one that can do this. Not all of them are equal. Some work better than others. Keep in mind that the software usually has to learn to recognize your handwriting so it may not work perfectly in the store. You generally need to write with a stylus for this to work. Is the stylus that comes with the touch screen laptop comfortable to write with or is it a little tiny thing that barely fits in your hand? You’ll like writing with a stylus that has the feel of a regular pen or pencil. If the stylus that comes with it is cheap and uncomfortable to write with, can you buy a different stylus for it? These are things worth asking the sales person before you hand over your hard earned cash.

Next comes the subject of multi touch. More and more touch screen laptops support multi touch now days. Multi touch means that you can touch the touch screen at more than one place on the screen at once and the computer will recognize both touch points. The HP Touchsmart is one touch screen computer that supports multi touch. The Apple iPad also supports multi touch. The iPad has revolutionized touch screen laptops. When Apple first introduced the iPad, it was an instant hit with consumers. Apple sold over a million iPads in just a month.

Finally, you want to have a look inside the touch screen laptop computer. I’m not suggesting that you break out your tools and take the computer apart. What I mean is you should have a look at the specifications.

Buy the fastest processor you can afford.

A dedicated video card with it’s own RAM is also a nice feature. I wouldn’t settle for anything less than 2 GB of RAM and I would recommend 4 GB.

A card reader is also a handy feature to have. With a card reader you can simply insert the memory card from your digital camera into a slot on the computer and it will instantly download your photos.

Large hard drives are king. Get one with a huge hard drive. Most people wouldn’t believe that they could actually fill up a 100 GB hard drive but with digital cameras coming with more and more megapixel’s these days, their file size can easily be 5 MB each. It’s easy to fill your hard drive to capacity with nothing more than pictures. Get the largest hard drive you can afford.

A DVD reader/writer should come on all laptops these days. If the model that you are looking at doesn’t have this, I would move on to one that does.

Battery life is always an important consideration when buying a touch screen laptop. Buy one with the longest battery life. Nothing is more annoying than a dead battery after only an hour of working on the computer.

I prefer a touch pad to the little eraser like pointing device found on many touch screen laptops.

Of course, the computer should come with several USB ports.

You’re going to have to pay more for a quality touch screen laptop. Unfortunately it’s still a relatively new technology for laptop computers. As with most electronic devices, the cost will come down dramatically in the future but for now you’ll have to hand over a bit more cash if you want the latest and greatest.

If you buy an Apple iPad, you’ll be one of the millions who are enjoying this new type of touch screen computer. Apple sold over two million iPads before the iPad had been on the market for even 60 days. I think the overwhelming success of the iPad is an indication of how popular touch screen laptops will be in the near future.

Owning a touch screen computer is a bit of a novelty right now but someday soon all laptops will have a touchscreen. The number of manufacturers who are making have a touch screen computer in their lineup is growing every day. Someday, the touchscreen interface will replace buttons on all electronic devices. The touchscreen is just so much easier to use than buttons and switches. It’s also a lot more fun to use. That’s why the iPad is so popular. People really seem to enjoy playing with them. Although the novelty factor hasn’t worn off just yet. People will someday not even think that a touchscreen laptop is anything special. Right now, they are fairly new and exciting. If you have a touchscreen laptop, you are one of the kids with the “cool toy”. Everyone will envy you.

Thanks for visiting my site on touch screen laptop computer info. If you are looking to buy a touch screen laptop, we have some amazing deals right now for you to choose from.

There can be no doubt that the Apple iPad has experienced overwhelming success since its introduction a few months ago. Millions of units were sold in just the first two months alone. Millions of anxious people were lining up at the stores for their chance to be the first to own the iPad. Those who didn’t buy the iPad or are holding out may be wondering why the iPad has been so overwhelmingly successful.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this and I believe I’ve come up with the answer. Millions of people around the world enjoy curling up with a good book and having a good read while sitting comfortably in their easy chair or reclining in a bay window. The experience of holding a book in your hand and reading is one that is often lacking in today’s world with so much of our media being on computers. People spend so much of their time sitting at desks or tables and working on their computers. This is not a relaxing position and it’s more of a position that we sit in when we’re working than when we are relaxing.

Apple realized that people are desperately missing this experience of holding something in their hands while reading. Holding the iPad is much more like holding a paper book. What Apple has done with the iPad has made surfing the Internet feel like reading an interesting book. You can sit in your favorite comfortable position whether it be in an easy chair, you’re comfortable bed, or under the sun shining through a bay window and surf the Internet or read an ebook with your iPad.

The iPad the ships with a very cool application for reading ebooks. Amazon has had amazing success with their ebook reader called Kindle. The Kindle isn’t a touch screen device but it does replicate the feeling of holding a real book. Apple took their ebook reader one step further and programmed it so that when you swipe your finger across the page, you see an animation of the page turning just like in real book. It’s these little details that make using the iPad so interesting and fun. There are thousands of books available for the iPad and there is even app that will allow you to read Kindle ebooks with the iPad.

Apple has been very successful in creating an electronic device that promotes the feeling of sitting down with a good book. You can do so many more things with the iPad than just browsing the Internet or reading a book in the ebook reader but these are the two most popular applications. There are actually thousands of app that are already available for the iPad.

The other reason that the iPad is so popular is because Apple used the same touch screen technology that was already wildly successful with a iPhone and iPod Touch. Millions of people who already owned the iPhone or iPod Touch where the first in line to get the new iPad. People really enjoy navigating through their electronic devices with a touch screen. The touch screen on the iPhone and iPod Touch is remarkably responsive and easy to use. The iPad works equally well and the larger screen makes using the ipad even more enjoyable than the iPhone or iPod Touch.

If you get the chance to try an iPad out for a few minutes, you’ll understand why this revolutionary device has been so well received by consumers.

Thanks for visiting my website on touch screen laptop computers. I hope your found what you were looking for here.

Here’s an interesting video about the iPad that i think you’ll enjoy watching.

Acer isn’t one to be left behind. They recently introduced the Acer Aspire AS5745PG-3882 touch screen laptop computer.

This is one of Acer’s first computer to be shipped with a touch screen. There are some neat things about the AS5745PG touch screen laptop. The first is cost. The suggested retail cost of this touch screen laptop is only $999. For the hardware that Acer put into this model, that’s an excellent price. Acer is known for providing quality computers that the average Joe can afford.

This Acer touch screen laptop was launched with the intent to taking full advantage of Windows 7 multi touch features. Windows 7 is the first operating system built to fully support mult touch technology. The AS5745PG comes with a passive digitizer touch screen which means that users can use their fingers to interact with the touch screen.

It also supports multi touch and gestures. A gesture is a sort of shortcut that the user can do by touching the touchscreen. For example, the user can touch the touch screen and make a swirl and a list of navigation features pops on the screen. If the user is reading an ebook on this touch screen laptop, he or she can touch the screen and turn the page just like turning the pages in a real book. Pretty cool!

This touch screen laptop computer comes with a button that you can press to disable the touch screen though I’m not sure when you would actually want to. After all you are buying a touch screen laptop to be able to use the touch screen.

If you are in the market for a touch screen laptop computer that has a lot of muscle but is still affordable, the Acer Aspire AS5745PG-3882 may be right up your alley. It’s affordable cost will put touch screen laptops in the hands of a lot of people who are anxious to try out this new way of interfacing with computers but couldn’t afford the higher priced models.

Apple made it available for a few lucky reviewers at trade shows but the rest of us had to wait patiently.

When March 5th came around, thousands and thousands of hungry Apple fans stormed the Apple stores to be the first on their block to own this new piece of technology. By the first of May, over a million units had already been sold! The early ipad sales outperformed the previous record holder which was the iphone.

So, it’s been a few months since consumers around the world started taping away on their ipads. You might be wondering what the general consensus has been about it. Did it live up to the hype? Surprisingly enough, for the majority of users, it’s all that it was promised to be.

Most users report that they enjoy it most for web browsing. It’s been compared with sitting down with a good book. Books are compact and you can sit virtually anywhere with one and make yourself comfortable. With a touch screen notebook, you kind of need to find someplace to set the computer. You can set it in your lap but it’s not the same has holding a book. Holding the ipad feels more like holding a book than a computer. It is the perfect size at 9.56″ tall by 7.47″ wide and only half and inch thick. It’s also lightweight at only 1 and a half pounds.

Unlike touch screen notebook computers, the ipad has the endurance of a marathon runner. With a full charge, the battery will last over 10 hours. No laptop can come close to that performance. Users report that this 10 hour battery life isn’t just advertising hype either.

Another area that the ipad shines is as an ebook reader. Up until now the Amazon Kindle had a corner on the ebook reader market. The ipad’s ebook reader software is easy to use and quite customizable. The number of ebooks available for the ipad pales in comparison to the number that are available for Kindle but that’s not a problem because the ipad supports ebooks that are formated for the Kindle.

There’s one aspect where the ipad doesn’t match up to touch screen notebook computers and that’s data entry. The ipad comes with a little program that looks like a qwerty keyboard but it’s not the easiest to type on. You don’t have the same tactile feel of typing on a regular keyboard and it’s easy to make mistakes. Touch screen notebooks have the edge in this area. You can type on the standard keyboard or you can make your data entry and selections by touching the screen.

So the answer to the question of whether the Apple Ipad is just another touch screen notebook is no. It’s in a class by itself. Nothing else on the market compares to it. It’s not really a question of whether to buy an ipad or a touch screen laptop. There is a place for both gadgets and it’s worth owning both.

Thanks for dropping by my site on touch screen laptop computers.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T400s touch screen laptop is a real heavy weight in the world to touch screen computing. Not only is it packed with a lot of computing muscle. It is also one of the first four finger capacitive touch screens. A capacitive touch screen has an electric current running through a conductive coating on a glass panel. When a person touches the screen there is a change in capacitance at that point and the computer registers the exact point where it was touched. This type of touch screen requires very little pressure and the image clarity is generally extremely sharp and bright.

The T400s comes bundled with Windows 7 and takes full advantage of it’s touch screen capabilities. It also has it’s own support software called SimpleTap to make interacting with with computer even easier. This unit supports multi touch functionality and as mentioned the touch screen can recognize up to four fingers at once. I have no idea when you would actually use four fingers at once to interact with it though. This seems like a marketing gimmick to me. Maybe there will be a use for it in the future but I can’t think of one now.

Battery life tests resulted in an average run time of around four hours which seems to be in line with other touch screen laptops. One thing that is cool is that you can buy an extra battery which they claim will increase the battery run time to eight hours.

One area that this touch screen laptop really falls short is that the screen doesn’t rotate and fold flat for full tablet functionality. I have no idea why they would omit this feature. This seems like a major oversight in my opinion.

The capacitive touch screen is ultra responsive and and this laptop is packed with some serious muscle. The MSRP for this model is around $1500.

Here’s a look inside the T400s

Specifications:

It’s certainly a light weight ultra portable notebook at only 3.9 pounds. A really cool feature is the fingerprint reader. You can open the computer, put your finger on the fingerprint reader and the computer will instantly power up. With the solid state hard drive, the computer powers up in about 40 seconds.

If you are in the market for a touch screen laptop, chances are that you’ve read about passive and active digitizer touch screens. If you’re like most people who are new to touchscreen laptops, you’re probably pretty confused about what you actually need to buy. Let’s take a moment and discuss the difference between passive and active digitizers.

Passive digitizer touch screens have sensors in the screen to recognize pressure or a change in the electronic current going through them. With a passive digitizer touchscreen, you can use your finger or a non-electric stylus to write on the screen and make input selections. One problem that people have been facing with passive digitizers is that touchscreen laptops often have their screens folded over so that the user can write on them like they’re writing on a regular piece of paper. What happens is when the user rests their hand on the screen like they would rest it on a piece of paper while writing, the computer thinks that the user intended to make a selection with their palm. This can cause all kinds of input errors and can get quite frustrating.

The advantage of a passive digitizer touchscreen is that you don’t have to use a digital pen when manipulating or writing on the screen. It’s sometimes nice to just be able to reach up and touch the screen hit send when you’re finished writing an e-mail. The problem is that the screen just isn’t smart enough to know that you didn’t intend to make an input selection with your palm. Engineers are working at developing ways too get passive digitizers to ignore bumping the screen with your palm. It’s a challenging task because many people are beginning to become familiar with what is called multi touch functionality. Multi touch it enables you to touch the screen at more than one point at a time and the screen will recognize both input points. This is commonly used when manipulating photographs on the screen. The user can touch to photograph with two fingers and rotate their hand and the picture will actually rotate in the screen.

Active digitizer touch screens require the use of an electronic pen. In days past, electronic pens were tethered to the computer with an electric cord. Modern day digital pens generally have a small battery in them and are self powered. That avenge that active digitizer touch screens have over passive digitizer touch screens is twofold. The first advantage is that handwriting is recognized much more clearly on a touch screen laptop with an active digitizer. The pen strokes as displayed on the screen are much smoother and more closely represent your actual handwriting. Another advantage is that the screen only recognizes input from the electronic pen. Therefore if you have your screen folded over an you are writting on your touchscreen laptop like you would write on any old paper notebook, the computer won’t be confused by your hand touching the screen.

Only you can decide which type of touchscreen will best suit your needs. The best way to know for sure is to get your hands on both types of systems and play around with them for a while.

If you pay attention to computer news, you are probably aware that many new laptops are being equipped with touch screens these days. Today will be talking about the Fujitsu LifeBook T1010 touch screen laptop. This Touchcreen laptop has a 13.3 inch screen which is probably about ideal for a tablet computer. It’s not so big that you feel like you’re carrying around a desktop computer but not so tiny as to be unusable.

The screen has a matte finish which is great for reducing glare. It’s also great because it’s less likely to show fingerprints than a shiny screen would. This is an important factor since the user will be touching the screen a lot to do the fact that this is a touchscreen laptop after all.

Let’s get right down to the nitty gritty and tell you what the specs are on the computer.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 / 2.26 GHz ( Dual-Core )

Hard Drive: 120 Gig – Serial ATA-150 – 5400 rpm

Memory: 2 Gig / 4 Gig (max)

Width 12.6 inches

Depth 9.6 inches

Height 1.5 inches

Data Bus Speed 1066 MHz

L2 cache 3 Meg’s

Min Operating Temperature 41 °F

Max Operating Temperature 95 °F

Humidity Range Operating 20 – 85%

CD / DVD read speed 24x (CD) / 8x (DVD)

CD / DVD rewrite speed 10x (CD) / 6x (DVD-RW) / 8x (DVD+RW) / 5x (DVD-RAM)

CD / DVD write speed 24x (CD) / 8x (DVD±R) / 4x (DVD±R DL)

Memory Stick , SD Memory Card reader

Max Resolution 1280 x 800 ( WXGA )

Color Support 24-bit (16.7 million colors)

Fish Graphics Processor / Vendor Intel GMA 4500MHD Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0

One of the first things that everyone wants to know about laptop computers is the battery life. Tests performed using video playback resulted in battery life of 2. 5 hours. You should expect to get more battery life when doing other things like surfing the web or playing simple games. Video playback is probably the most battery draining thing you can do with the touchscreen laptop computer.

The screen can be folded completely over so that this touchscreen laptop can be used like a standard tablet computer. This model ships with a digital stylus for doing data entry but works just as well with any standard stylus. The user can even use their finger as a stylus and the touchscreen responds appropriately. Users report that with the matte finish of the screen, writing on the screen with the stylus feels similar to writing on paper.

This Touchcreen laptop is equipped with software that recognizes handwriting input. Therefore if you are a student taking notes in class, you have the option of simply writing on the screen with a stylus as if you would write in a regular paper notebook. This feature is great for those people who are slow typers.

As equipped, this unit can be purchased for right around $1399. That’s a little on the spendy side for a laptop computer of these specifications but considering the fact that it’s actually a Touchcreen laptop, it seems fairly reasonably priced.

Pink laptops have become the hottest addition to the line of colored laptops. They make terrific presents for girls of all ages. There are a wide range to choose from as most brands like IBM, Sony, HP, Samsung, Dell, Asus and Apple Mac have all included a pink version in their laptop range.

Colored laptops are not necessarily expensive. If you are looking to buy your 6 year old her first computer and don’t want anything too technically savvy, there are many options that you can choose from that are not very expensive.

One of the cheaper purchase options available for a pink laptop with Windows as its operating system is the Asus EEE PC 1001P-M, which has a 10inch display and Windows 07 as its operating system. This is available online at around $290. Another alternative is Dell, which offers quality laptops which can be custom built to suit your specific needs starting at $300. The Disney Neptal Princess Pink Notebook is another very good option for young children and is available online at around $340.

One of the things that you must consider while purchasing cheap laptops is that a netbook is not a laptop. A netbook is also known as a mini laptop and these are available at a price range of between $200-400. They do not have many of the functional features that are needed by heavy computer users. If you need to save a lot of data, play high definition games or even burn DVDs, you will need a laptop. However, if all you need is a machine to check your e-mail and browse through the Internet, a mini laptop may be a good option for you to choose from. If you are looking to buy a pink mini laptop, Hewlett Packard is one of the options you can check out as they offer good quality products at between $250-400.

Cheap pink laptops may be the best value for your money, so before you purchase, spend a little time on researching the options that
are available.
Make sure that the laptop you are choosing has all the specifications that you may need or has the capacity to be upgraded in the future if necessary. In reality, there are no cheap laptops as you ultimately get fewer functions when you pay less. But it would also be pointless for you to pay more for specifications that you really don’t need.

They even make pink touch screen laptop computers. You little girl would probably love a pink touch screen laptop for her birthday or Christmas present.

Here’s a new term that you may not have heard about before. There is a fairly new classification of touch screen laptop computers called “slates”. A slate computer is a trimmed down version of a tablet or touch screen laptop computer. A slate doesn’t have a keyboard or many buttons for that matter. It’s basically just a touch screen. The user is fully reliant on the touch screen interface to interact with a slate computer.

The most well known of the slate computers is the new Apple ipad. The ipad is taking the world by storm. Users are loving the simplistic styling of the ipad and find interacting with it quite instinctual. If the early sales are any indication of how well slate computers will do in the mobile computing marketplace is any indication of what is to come, consumers should expect other computer manufactures to jump on the slate bandwagon soon.

Slate computers don’t use standard Windows or Mac operating systems. Instead they use slimmed down, easy to operate operating systems that require little to no learning curve. Apple iOS, Palm webOS, and Google Android are a few examples of this type of operating system.

A slate computer is most commonly used for things like multimedia applications like viewing photographs, web surfing, watching videos, and listening to music. Slate computers come with applications for typing on the touch screen but this functionality is fairly limited. It’s not as easy to type on a touch screen as it is to type on a regular keyboard.

Some other examples of slate computers that are on the market are Camangi WebStation and the Fusion Garage Joojoo. Haven’t heard of these? Don’t feel bad. Most people haven’t. These models haven’t hardly received any media attention when compared to the ipad.

One major computer manufacturer, HP is ramping up to release a slate computer that it hopes will be as successfull as Apple’s ipad. The HP Slate will be go by the name Android and will be slightly smaller and lower in resolution than the ipad but it will be able to play 1080p HD video.

It is supposed to be less expensive than the ipad with the 64 GB model expected to cost $549 compared to ipad’s 64 GB version at $699

It will also have a SD card reader, a USB port, and a SIM card tray. It will have a dock connector for powering the device and an HDMI out port.

It will be slightly lighter than the ipad but a tad bit thicker. It will run on HP’s own version of a slate operating system.

It will also feature two cameras while the ipad doesn’t have any. A VGA video camera on the front and a 3 MP still camera on back.

HP hopes to add features to it’s slate computer that the ipad is lacking in. The release date was rumored to be June of 2010 but HP postponed it and hasn’t given any idea of when it will be released.

I think that HP is wise to hold off on the release of the Android tablet. This will give them more time to find out what people like and don’t like about the ipad. Then they can build the Android to live up to the things that people like about the ipad and they can make the Android without any of the things that users don’t like about the ipad.

Today we will be talking about the big brother to the Fujitsu Lifebook T1010, the T5010. The T1010 is an entry level touch screen laptop. The main difference between the T1010 and the T5010 is that the T1010 has what called a passive digitizing screen and the T5010 has an active digitizing screen. Active digitizers are much more accurate at recognizing handwriting.

Test show that the touchscreen is quite responsive which is a key factor in choosing a touch screen laptop . If the touchscreen doesn’t work or is sluggish, the touch screen interface will basically be worthless to you.

This Fujitsu touchscreen notebook has a 13.3 inch screen has a hinge that can pivot either way which is very handy for presentations. Testers report that the screen colors is quite vivid and bright.

The T5010 comes supplied with a with a standard plastic stylus pen. One thing that isn’t standard is that you can turn it over and it will actually work as an eraser. This is a really cool feature.

The battery life of the T5010 has been reported to be quite low when Windows was set to performance mode. One tester reported that they got a battery life of only 1 hour and 40 minutes. The same tester reported almost 4 hours when windows was set to balanced mode. This is actually quite respectable.

One thing that I don’t really like about this touchscreen notebook is that it comes with a white keyboard and white keyboards can be a bit difficult to keep clean. Of course this doesn’t affect functionality. It’s just a personal preference.

One really cool feature about this model is that it has an extra bay for installing an extra battery or extra hard drive.

The base model starts at $1759 and with all the bells and whistles it will cost you $1969.

The base model of the T5010 isn’t equipped as well as it’s little brother, the T1010 touchscreen notebook but it comes with an active digitizing screen which is the reason it is priced higher. Personally, I would spend the extra money and go with a touchscreen notebook that is equipped with and active digitizer.
